Dr. Gregory J. Clark

Greg Clark was most recently Vice Chairman of Knowledge Universe, a private company that operates, incubates and invests in companies in the technology, health and education industries. He held this position January 2000 to December 2001.
From 1998 to 2000, Clark was President and Chief Operating Officer of Loral Space and Communications, LLC. He oversaw operations and business development for all Loral, Loral subsidiary companies and business units. These responsibilities covered satellite manufacturing, satellite operations and leasing, value-added services and mobile telephony. The companies involved included Space Systems Loral, Skynet, Orion, CyberStar, SatMex and GlobalStar. He was Vice-Chairman of GlobalStar for the same period.
From 1994 to 1998, Clark was a member of the News Corporation's Executive Committee and President of the News Technology Group. In this position he was responsible for all of News Corporation's technology, including the worldwide integration of technical strategy and operations in the areas of print, terrestrial and satellite television, film and on-line and Internet services. All technology companies owned by News Corporation reported directly to Clark. These included NDS, the world's leading provider of digital compression, encryption and conditional-access technology and Kesmai, the foremost on-line multi-player game company.
During a 12-year tenure at IBM, Clark was a Research Staff Member at IBM's Research Division in Yorktown Heights, NY. During this period he also served as IBM's Director of Science and Technology in Australia where he was responsible for high-performance computing and communications.
Clark holds a PhD in Physics from the Australian National University. He has been internationally recognized through a number of awards in science and technology, including the Pawsey Medal from the Australian Academy of Science, which recognized him as the most outstanding young Australian scientist. In addition, he has published more than 100 scientific papers and holds 11 patents. From 1992 until 1996, Dr. Clark was a member of the Australian Prime Minister's Science and Engineering Council. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He and his wife Pamela have two daughters.
